Island squashed the record before U2 got wind of it. By the time they
knew, it was too late. It appears that Bono and co. would have preferred
to negotiate some kind of agreement (eg. a warning sticker). As to why
this was not done after the fact (eg. for later releases of the same
record), I am not sure. Maybe they were a little pissed off anyway - after
all, it is thier name (and it would be their fans who would feel cheated).
