Until The End Of The World

Wire,

Recently I posted a document my wife received at her office at
Polygram Records. I was surprised
by the arrogance and ignorance of many Wire subscribers as they
proceeded to make totally
outrageous and inaccurate statements about my character, the
reliability of my sources, my work
ethic, my opinions, and above all, the sincerity of my posting. I am
thoroughly shocked at the
immature way this mailing list reacted to my findings. Here is a list
of points I would like to a make:

- I never said that the memo was an official Polygram Records
document. It was written out by
someone at the company who has information about the band and then
circulated throughout the
office.

- Nobody on this list is in a position to pass judgment on my
creditability, so please do not do so
until you have proof that my findings are incorrect. If you must bash
my views please do not pass
your prattle off as fact. Phrase it as your own opinion. By the way, I
invite you to try and find
information contradicting my posting, it will only lend weight to my
"argument".

-Many of you react to any significant news representing change by
going into a state of denial. Denial
is fear. And hate is the manifestation of fear. This would explain all
the flames I received.

-Nearly every one of you who replied to my posting said I "gave myself
away" by including the part
about The Joshua Tree. I never gave myself away, because it's all true.

-Some of you said I was a bad writer. Other than now I have never
posted my own writing to Wire,
so please shutup.

-This is not my normal address. I foresaw the flames you ignorant
fools would send to me and so I
created this account to block my regular address from all of your
ranting and raving letters.

-I even received a message from saying that I was a dumbass
because of my grammar. Once
again, this is not my writing but even if it was, you are still wrong.
Observe:

    I WROTE THIS:
"Besides Tempe their will only be seven more stadium dates on a
tour dominated by multiple-night
arena shows similar to
their 'When Love Comes To Town' Tour"

    RGWGRGW WROTE THIS:
>you moron, you need to learn better grammar. on that part that
mentioned LoveTown you used
"their" instead of "there".
>geez, I guess there are a lot of illiterate people out there.

Actually the tour itself belongs to U2 so the possessive form is
correct. You are the illiterate one.

-I have become tired of your flames. From now on anyone who e-mails me
regarding this subject
will suffer the consequences. I have programs that my company uses to
do mass mailings that can
send out 10,000 e-mails to any any address, each with a 500K
attachment. Your server will
proceed to crash and your ISP will discontinue your account, so
anyone who flames me won't be
posting ANYWHERE for a long, long time.

-I am not an "eighties-lover". I said so at the end of my message and
you ignorant retards attacked
my sincerity. As I said before, none of you are in a position to pass
judgment on my character.

-One of you even said that I was "sitting at home while my wife worked
in an office" or something
equally as stupid. I don't know if the country you come from has
running water or paved roads, but
in the prosperous families of most Western countries, both the man and
woman work outside the
home. I have an equally demanding job as my wife, whom I love very
much. I shouldn't even be
justifying myself to your ignorant mind. Why do I even bother with
your outrageous comments?

-The thing that offended me the most was the way a lot of you declared
that this was my way of
"getting a rise out of people". I would NEVER do that, so don't even
imply it. I am honestly hurt by
the way you assholes doubted my motivations and called me a liar. So
please, if you disagree with
me (a.k.a. deny the truth) just say so without getting personal.

******
This little episode has actually opened my eyes to how much Wire has
degenerated into a bunch of
slobs advertising outrageously priced bootlegs and showing off their
cloned web pages. This whole
list is so much more exciting when we actually talk about the music
and U2, rather than flame each
other and rag on somebody's U2-hate site.

Sincerely,
Poptican

PS- My topic, "The End Of The World" was not meant to imply that that
the world was ending, it
was a sorta play-off the song title "Until The End Of The World".
