I cannot be sure but i was always under the impression that the lyrical
content of BAD refers to the drug and more specifically heroin problems that
plague Dublin.
With that in my mind, listen to the lyrics again and you will hopefully
agree that this is a suitable explanantion.
I cant remember where i heard this but i know i read it somewhere.

By the way, whilst we are talking about lyrics, i sat and had a smoke last
night and listened to the best of disc and was just so completely mesmerised
by the power and beauty of Bono's lyrics. I had the headphones on
(girlfriend in bed asleep) and i just concentrated all my effort into
listening.
It is not like it is a reveleation to find that he writes great lyrics its
just that after hearing them for the best part of 20 years you do kind of
take it for granted.
I though to myself that we are all told that at the moment Thom Yorke (for
whom i have nothing but respect) is one of the worlds most prolific writers
of lyrics, and i could not agree more, but his is a kind of disjointed
fractured storytelling technique.
Bono has a more rounded and precise lyrical style. You can actually follow a
flow and not get lost where as Thom leaves you wondering what the hell did
he say let alone mean !!!

Anyway, it was just a thought.

INTO THE HEART

Stuart
