I just picked up a giveaway full-color 11" X 16" newsletter in the
record store called "POP!". It was the maiden issue and had features
on Sheryl Crow, Metallica, Lighthouse Family and some local artists.
U2 was on the front page and the back page was entirely devoted to U2.
On one article it quoted McGuiness as saying "Boyzone manager Louis
Walsh aked us if there were any U2 songs lying around that may be
suitable for his group. I suggested The Sweetest Thing. Even though
they loved the song, they felt their unreleased version didn't do it
justice, so they were thrilled when Bono called and asked them to sing
a new U2 version." The weird thing is that McGuiness actually said
they sang with U2 but nowhere in the single or video can I hear
Boyzone's voice. I don't ever remember reading any post in Wire
saying that Sweetest Thing was originally offered to Boyzone.

I picked up two extra copies of this newsletter (which was "Available
in Metro Manila only") just in case some of you people out there who
are into collecting all this useless U2 items want it. Just email me
if interested and maybe we can work out a trade. Also, I am from the
Philippines but the newsletter was in English of course. But for
those of your interested in getting it in mint condiotion, that would
be virtualyl impossible due to the size of the magazine. I would have
to fold it crosswise to send it.

Bye for now,

Jovi
