'Disconnecting extraneousness' and other pretentious crap.

In response to Rob Okorn, would he prefer if U2 took to the stage naked,
wearing nothing but guitar straps around them, and Bono wearing nothing but
an ear-piece? I know this would please many female fans (and some male as
well)....

The superficiality of the MTV age/fashion/video screens etc can be
frustrating, but U2 live in these times, and have to present themselves
well. There has to be a visual element in any live show, and the band
members have to wear something! It's better if they do something imaginative
with their stage costumes than walk on wearing bland clothes.

The issue is very simple. Presentation is important in live concerts, but U2
have never allowed this 'wrapping paper' to swamp the emotional power of
their music.

Tim.
