Hi Wire!

This question has been rattling around in my brain for quite sometime now,
so I have decided to post to see what other Wirelings did. Here is my
question: *How did you get fantastic b-stage spots or seats in the front
rows at other U2 concerts??* Please share your knowledge with me.
Please.....

I am having Popmart withdrawl (I mean it.... I want my, I want my, I want
my U2 live! Gimme, gimme, gimme.....I know, *sigh*, gimme's never get....)
I was not on the Wire list for this last tour, so I didn't have a tag.
Obviously, I will have a Wire tag for the next tour. I want to be prepared
for when U2 tours next time, because I don't want to have kind of crummy,
waaaaaaaay back in the back of the stadium seats that I needed binoculars
to see my beloved band for real with again. People can say what they want
about that big screen, but I for one am *very* thankful they had it. It
made what was going on on stage accessable to everyone at their concerts. I
think it shows what respect and caring U2 has for their fans to lug around
screens that size so even people in the nosebleeds are treated to an
amazing show, without a sponsor whilst keeping ticket prices quite low
.....but that is another subject altogether.....So, here goes:

I'll tell you what happened when I got my tickets for Popmart in Toronto.
The concert date (only one show at that time) was announced on the Wed. I
called Ticketmaster. They said that tickets would go on sale on Saturday
morning at 10:00. But if I wanted to, I could drive to Sunrise Records in
London, Ontario and get a wrist band. That would guarantee me tickets,
couldn't guarantee me "good" tickets, but I would get to go to the show.
Ok, so I drove an hours drive in Feb. in a snowstorm to London to get my
wristband that day. When I got to Sunrise Records, they gave me a wristband
and I was only 7th on the list. "Great!!", I said to the guy, "That means
I'll be only 7th in line for tix, right?" To which he says,"No, it doesn't
mean a thing." Anway, what happened on Sat. was this: We all lined up in
the order of where our names were on the initial wristband list, so I was
7th in that line. Then they drew numbers from the numbers *on* the
wristbands of people in the line. This draw meant if the fates had been
totally against me, I could have gone from 7th in line to dead last!!!! NO
FAIR!! As it turned out, I ended up about 24th in line. But by the time I
got to the where I could actually *buy* my tickets, all of the floor seats
at Skydome were gone! We ended up in the second tier between Bono and
Adam's side, with a good view of b-stage, but we still needed binoculars to
see the guys closely. Any Toronto area Wirelings know how huge Skydome is,
and would agree with me, this is a LONG ways back.

I don't know what else I could have done. We weren't online at that time to
buy tickets that way. And the issue of Propaganda that had tickets offered
in it came *after* I had already bought my tickets. Why can't the powers
that be at Propaganda get the issue of Prop. offering tix out *before* the
show has sold out?
My husband stayed home and tried to get through on the phone for tickets,
too, just in case I did end up near the end of the line at Sunrise Records,
but he was never able to get through to Ticketmaster on the phone, it was
constantly busy. The first Toronto show sold out *very, very* fast, within
an hour, as I recall. That's why a second show was added, which also sold
out.

Next tour, I want to be at b-stage or near the front. U2 wants their most
devoted fans down in front. *I am one.* I DO NOT want to go to another U2
show where the people around me feel the need to SIT through the show!!! I
sure as hell wasn't gonna sit, I had waited too long for Popmart to sit
their like a lump!! I was pumped, I was jazzed, I was ready for the
laughing gas, I was ready for what's next!! And Popmart rocked!! Now I'm
ready for another tour and a b-stage or near the front spot.......Help me
get there, please......I'll be eternally grateful!

Have a lovely, lemony day, peoples! (My apologies for the length of this
post.)

Faith, hope and LOVE,

Di
