Make of this what you will -- I have no way of confirming the
following:

The reason that Ali is the carriage in the video for "The Sweetest
Thing" is that it was a birthday gift from Bono to her -- she gets
to be the star of the video!

(Prarit's note: I hope it's true -- pretty cool birthday gift...)

First off, I know that the Zooropean hasn't had one of the best
net-reps in the past few years.

                                            B U T....

I would like to say that I think that the "new" Zooropean is far
different than the Zooropean from about two years ago. It's
better organized, better staffed and IMHO, Sander and Chuck
put out a hell of a good product.

They have official merchandise, etc., on the site -- it's really
worth taking a look at...

Check it out for yourselves:

U2 SHOOTS NEW VIDEO IN DUBLIN

By Dan McGinn

U2 finally took a lap of honour in their own home town after the
success of PopMart but it was in front of the cameras.

The band were blessed with spectacular weather in their home
city of Dublin as the cameras rolled for the video for the
forthcoming single `The Sweetest Thing.

After a summer of incessant rain, the band were indeed blessed
by the Gods with sun shining for the entire shoot in the city centre.

Dubliners were treated to the sight of a carnival featuring U2
members, a circus Elephant, the Artane Boys Band (famous for
appearing each year in the Irish equivalent of the SuperBowl
- the All-Ireland Finals in hurling and gaelic football at Croke Park)
and a number of Irish celebrities which wound its way through the
Georgian splendour of the city.

Among those taking part were boy band, Boyzone (who enjoy huge
success in Europe, Australia and the Far East) and recently enjoyed
another Number One in the British charts with their single `No Matter
What - a song from the latest Andrew Lloyd Webber musical.

Former Irish world super-middlewieght champion boxer Steve Collins,
who steered another Dubliner to success in the ring on Saturday -
Barcelona Olympic gold medalist and now world champion boxer
Michael Carruth - also took part in the video shoot directed by former
10CC member, Kevin Godley.

A report on the making of the video featured on the first news
programme of new Irish TV channel, TV3.

Collins explained to TV3 that he was asked to play a small cameo
in the video as a boxing trainer, while Boyzones Ronan Keating and
Mikey Graham said they were honoured to be asked to appear in the
video.

The band asked us to appear in the video, so we just pop up at one
point and sing a line, said a humbled Ronan Keating who was greeted
on the set by U2 drummer Larry Mullen Jnr.

Asked by TV3 as whether Boyzone saw this as U2 conferring their
approval on their band as the new princes of Irish pop, an awestruck
Mikey Graham said they had always enjoyed a cordial relationship
with Irelands premier rock band.

But to work with someone like U2 - well thats great. I mean, wow.
Theyre really up there!

The compliment was returned by Larry Mullen in his interview with
TV 3s entertainment correspondent Lorraine Keane.

Why do we have Boyzone in the video? I guess you gotta have
somebody in the video to keep all the girls out there happy!

Bono explained the idea behind the song and the video was as a
kind of an apology to Ali for missing her birthday.

I was in the studio or something when she was having her
birthday - so this is my way of saying sorry - by having a
carnival parade.

I came back home with this song `The Sweetest Thing and
theres a lot of sweetness in it - with a bit of sour thrown in.

TV3 footage of the shoot showed Bono (donning a Rattle and Hum
porkpie hat and POP style glasses) singing in a horse drawn carriage,
with band members Adam and the Edge travelling behind in an open
top car.

The single will be released in Ireland on October 13th in advance of the
release of the bands first ever Greatest Hits collection and a final
cut
of the video will be aired on TV3s pop music show, Pop On 3 in the
next fortnight.

U2 and Boyzone do 'Sweetest Thing'
By Doug Martin for ZooNation

In a brief report from Anthony Zaidan, webmaster of U2 Dublin...

U2 and Boyzone have reportedly collaborated on the new version
of 'The Sweetest Thing'. It is unknown how involved the popular boy
group actually was in the recording process, but they are involved
with the video for the single.

The video is being filmed right now (Sunday) on the streets of Dublin.
U2 Dublin's own Anthony Zaidan is their right now and will give us a
lot more details later in he evening.

Boyzone, for those who don't know, are a 5 piece boy band from
Dublin who are Irelands (and Europes) most successful boy band.
Much like The Backstreet Boys are in the U.S.
