The Best Popmart - Sound and Voice -wise.

I have only been to one Popmart - New Jersey, but I do have a
handful of Popmart boots, so I can compare form the vocal point of view.

The best would have to be Rotterdam, first night. Bono's voice
was well-rested (this was the fisrt night after a long break from
america's first leg) and this was as close as he could get to the
JT-voice and hitting the high notes. For those who don't have the
boot, you can always listen to Popheart. From the little that was
telelvised of that show in ABC TV, it seems like it was a good show
visually.

The good thing there is that Bono did not talk much during the
songs, making them all very good live versions of the songs. In the
latter shows, Bono had a penchant for talking much and missing notes
or mumbling lines. He thanks people while the songs are playing or he
says the usual "lights off willie." Personally, I like the less
talking in songs kind of show. But Bono did talk a lot between songs.

Other reasons why ROtterdam is the best show:
1. I have the boot (shameless plug).
2. Bono hits the notes in Pride and NYD better than any time in ZOO TV
3. The band doesn't miss a note
4. Awesome version of Miami
5. They sang a full-band version of "Rain"
6. Unique all-guitar version of All I want Is you

Why the later shows are not the best for me:
1. Bono's voice was getting more and more hollow (must be the
cigaretters)
2. Bad, and 40 (which was played on later shows) are already in ZOO
and JT and Lovetown, Rotterdam had the Popmart track Miami, the
karaoke, and Rain (which wasn't played full-band on previous tours).
So Rotterdam is very representative of the typical Zoo TV show.

Well, I feel stupid for writing such a long post defending my view but
I just hope this helps the other people out there who want to know.

me,

Jovi
